Self-representation and digital culture je monografija Nancy Thumim, objavljena na podlagi doktorske raziskave, v kateri se avtorica posveča razsežnostim mediatizacije in samoreprezentacije v digitalni kulturi. Recenzijo knjige sem napisala za revijo Teorija in praksa.

On Friday started first edition of Rails Girls Ljubljana, a workshop about Ruby on Rails. After Friday’s installation party, on Saturday started the real fun. Checking on css, html and “the real code” again, reminded me, what was the most exciting and fun part of my job in the web industry – playing in the lines, playing with the code!

Brigita Jergović Jurić – Gitica, rojena Verčkovnik (1936), je ena od prvih Jugoslovank, ki so sedle za računalnike. Profesorico so gimnazijci speljali na kriva pota, tako da je v 70-ih matematiko zamenjala za računalnike. Malo je programirala, največ in najraje pa je izobraževala uporabnike poslovnih, knjigovodskih in turističnih CRM-aplikacij. V tednu, ko bi rojstni dan praznovala Ada Lovelace, znana kot prva programerka, in v času, ko se rojeva ljubljanska skupnost Rails Girls, objavljam delčke intervjuja, ki sva ga z Gitico posneli na družinskem srečanju februarja letos v Mariboru. « Read the rest of this entry »

We were sailing with the Schooner America 2.0 last Thursday. Schooner America 2.0 is remake of the boat, that won first America’s Cup trophy back in 1851. She seems to be the pride of Manhattan sailing fleet – 105 feet and 3600 square feet of sail! « Read the rest of this entry »

With 31 I was ripe enough to visit the NYC. It happened after some months of my life, where change and work were one of the seldom constants of my living. The stressy’n'messy (but also awesome!) period ended with an ugly cold, that has been upgraded to bronchitis as soon as we landed in the USA: Sunday’s sprints at the Boston airport to catch connecting flight to the JFK airport and then Monday’s rushing through Manhattan subway stations haven’t done any good to me.

Lying in bed at noon on Sunday confirms more than successful planning of this saturdaying. What is saturdaying? Slovenian word for it would be sobotkanje and my suggestion for German dictionaries is Samstagern (in Switzerland there is a village with this hip name). This very special weekend mode can include as many of your favourite activities as you like it or it can consist of 100-percent of doing nothing.
